This is nothing like my site. I am not looking to lock someone into 2
years of rights. Nor am I expressing interest in publishing
"electronic" versions of their books. When was the last time you
purchased an ebook rather than a real one?
I am looking to bring exposure to writers. That's all. I just want to
help. I am just trying to figure out why people are getting angry with
my proposal?

It's been explained to you.

In this particular group, there is quite a high proportion of
participants who are either already professionals in the field, or are
working their butts off to get there - these people aren't interested
in "exposure". These people are not doing this for a hobby - it's a
living. A mighty precarious one, at that, when it comes to it - so we
tend to protect our sources of revenue and that means that we simply
don't give out stories to unknown new websites who are willing to
offer us "exposure". It's the wrong market for what you're trying to
do, at the very least.

Which should tell you one thing - professional interest in a site like
yours is pretty much hovering at zero. What you might get is a flood
of folks who just knocked off this little story, and here you are, put
it up. The good stuff, the stuff that the authors KNOW is good, is
simply not going to come to that website. We prefer "exposure" that
pays.

As for why people are getting angry... well, you're just ONE message
amongst many, and we've been getting more than our fair share of "let
us have your stories and we'll stroke your ego" posts lately. This
might not be what you think you are doing, but from this end it reads
like it - and people are just instinctively responding to that.

Given that we've established that it isn't likely that you'll be
getting much fodder for your website from this quarter... as I said...
stick around and participate in some other discussions. We talk about
writing'n'stuff ALL THE TIME.
