You are correct. I was not aware this was Usenet at first, I had been
under the initial assumption it was a Google group.

Yes, this is rather naughty of Google. Although Google is wonderful for
many things, I'm beginning to think it might be getting too big for its
boots.

I've been thinking the same, recently -- and not (just) for this reason.

<sigh>

They have a lot of money to invest/spend -- why does this attract staff
who are more interested in money than providing a service? (No need to
answer that.)

I wonder if the net economy is a fast-forward version of the rise and
fall of empires? And who will we love and hate (wrt corporations) in
five or ten years? (Those are rhetorical questions too, but answering
them would be on-topic <g>)
