It would be interesting if someone could figure out why different people
have such different reactions to the syntax.
Well, from this large sample of two I think it may be connected to the
fact that we both use quite odd syntax ourselves from time to time!

It occurs to me that deliberately playing with syntax is more typical of
poetry than prose.
