You, milady, are one. If my post to you seemed unprovoked, I apologize. What you do here is reasonably amazing, and in a very real way, you have, for the months I've been reading and posting, created much of the heart and flavor that makes this a worthwhile newsgroup.
Thank you very much.
That said, I didn't perceive your comment as an attack on me, or a pointed lesson I didn't need. I just posted my opinion. If you took it as an attack, ah, oops. I'll be more careful next time.
Not as an attack, precisely, but definitely critical and possibly not as carefully thought out as it might have been.
I came a cropper yesterday by referring to a novel a friend was thinking of writing as 'chick lit.'I tend to use the term broadly to include a wide range of novels, mainly to do with romanitc and sexual relationships read mainly by women. She doesn't and I won't in future. My remark came across as disparaging which was both unfortunate and unintentional.

And the funny thing is, I think I know better. This recent sub-set title almost couldn't have originated from arrogant male lady bashers. It's too consciously self referential for today's marketplace. I have no idea who coined the phrase, but it seems more likely it was a woman who doesn't take herself seriously, and who recognized that a genre had been born. But it still comes across as a title only the locals should use. I have a very hard time saying it in company.

To think that was once a right wing comment. In the land of Homeland Security it seems.. Suspiciously left-wing.
