Oh, I know when I grabbed it: at the end of NaNoWriMo last year!

Checks: No, the creation date is 14 November 2004 - my memory is
playing tricks. I must have decided to search for images while I
was writing the relevant section, and then used the picture for
the book cover when I'd finished it. The folder it's in has 14
fallen angel jpegs, 11 dated 14 November, and 3 dated 21 November.

Most of them are not very good (but presumably better than the
hundreds I didn't download). Some are quite pretty or clever,
but only two are what I'd consider serious enough to be suitable
for my book cover. (And a majority of people who've seen them seem
to prefer the other one! :-). I'm not looking for cute cartoons,
for example, nor "fancy dress" costumes. Actually, I'm not
really looking for *any* more pictures, except out of idleness:
the best solution will be to find a girl with wings[*], and ask
her to pose for a few snaps! Then I'll own the copyright :-)

Not that it would be up to me anyway, if the book ever got
published by a "real" publisher.

I've just shown my memory about this to be fallible, which is one
reason I didn't say this before, but I have a feeling that
the original URL was either Russian or Finnish. I thought at first
that "Anja" might have meant "angel" in some language, but the
first time I tried to find the original picture, it soon became
pretty clear that it was a common name in lots of countries!

[*] I've been keeping an eye out for one, but winged girls seem
to be avoiding Brighton at present. I haven't even seen any
winged men.
