I see your writing skills haven't improved during your hiatus.
See if you can shoehorn a few more cliches and abstractions in there.
Never confuse the nobility of the subject matter with the success of the
poem attempt.
In fact, to address such a serious subject in such a hamfisted manner could
be viewed as a form of disrespect.
Why not take a walk and attempt to describe the trees in a novel manner.
You don't possess the skills to address such subject matter successfully at
this time.

They come home too
Shrouded in canvas
at dead of night.
No weeping head-bowed crowd to line their route,
The burdened courtages slying the plotted course
To home
Where warriors rest
In tangled rows.
Torn, wretched frames,
Neither pitied or admired.
Later,
When the ghosts have gone
Or deemed to have,
They are stripped
To reveal the hurt
and disembowled.
Their tortured shells bathed
Dull, asbestos white.
Show perfect wounds,
anonymous and free of souls.
Side by side, row upon row
They lie, the wounded and dead.
From here the creator might see his folly,
Suck his teeth, do the math
And gift new life.
From here the warrior might rejoin the fight
renewed,
Become a friend, a saviour or a tomb
again.
Or, staying dead, be pans.- Hide quoted text -

The British Armies Warrior group of vehicles built by Alvis Vehicles,
(formerly GKN Defence,) are a battlefield tested range of highly
reliable and efficient vehicles tested in both the Middle East, and on
United Nations operations in Bosnia. Almost 800 Warriors are in
service with Mechanised Divisions of the British Armed Forces. This
Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle carries a driver, commander,
gunner, and up to a maximum of 8 passengers, (two fully equipped
British Army Fire Teams,) and is capable of operating for up to 48
hours non-stop in NBC conditions. Noted below is the standard layout
for the Warrior, but it is capable of fielding a variety of different
weapons.
The Warrior's roles are varied and it can be used as an Infantry
Section Vehicle, Infantry Command, Repair or Recovery Vehicle,
Observation Post Vehicle, Artillery Command or carrying Vehicle or an
Anti-Tank Weapon Carrying Vehicle. The aluminium armour construction
provides protection against 14.5mm armour piercing rounds, 155mm air
burst shell fragments and 9kg anti-tank mines. Applique armour can be
added to provide enhanced protection against threats. The AFV is
capable of also carrying weapon fits ranging from machine pistols to
90 mm guns, mortars and missile systems.
