Carving food at night

carving food at night
when the lights in the sky are out
when the family is home
gathered around the television
mother, father and three kids...
one two three four five...
the peas are cooked
an' 'all the trimmings'
cutting up the mutton
making the gravy
and the mint sauce
guess this aint America
guess this aint a guess
this aint television
but ipod, cell phone.
cornputor technology...
we are happy here
or so they say...
the food is hot, at least
it was when we last
looked at it. Monday will
come again once a week...
the traffic will swell
and the gravy
will be forgotten.
