Let's get something straight... I hail from the South West of England
on the Devon/Cornwall border - where we still eat our offspring,
sacrifice virgins (though god knows they are getting harder to come by
since the railway reached us) at the full moon and do unspeakable
things to effigies of those we feel have insulted us... So I confess I
am struggling a bit with some of your obviously more 'cosmopolitan'
terms:

What in Christ's name is a 'Jerkwad'? I can tell by the tone it is
derogatory, but if someone is being rude to me I at least want to know
HOW rude!

'Jerk' is the North American equivalent of wank and/or wanker; so a
'jerkwad' would be the residue from same. Rest assured, you don't
have to reply, "I know you are, but what am I?" to anyone who's
called you that; the reader will do that for you.

And what is 'Trolling'? I know what a Troll is - nordic folklore and
all that stuff - but the act of 'trolling' is a mystery to me... Past
the fact it is manifestly not intended to be complimentary...

In fishing, 'trolling' means running a baited line from a moving
boat. On Usenet it actually means:
<quote>From the fishing term. As a noun, synonymous with flamebait. As
a verb, to post controversial or provocative messages in a deliberate
attempt to provoke flames. </q>
teladesign.com/ma-thesis/glossary.html

Although many Netizens confuse that term, and misuse 'troll' for
who engage in the subsequent flaming.

Perhaps someone would enlighten me?

HTH. BTW, I read your other posts and will reply to them when I have
more time on line.

"Quote" you don't have to thank us for WWII. you can send me money if
you feel you need
to thank us for WWII, but you don't have to.

We gave you the Bahamas for turning up - late! - At least when YOU
throw a war we turn up on time and bring a bottle! - THEN we had to
spend the next sixty years paying off the bill you sent us for joining
in - AND we didn't get a cash discount OR a bit off for fighting the
Japanese on your behalf across most of Asia - AND we 've been helping
you out in your various wars, FREE OF CHARGE, ever since - and let's
face it, as a nation, when it comes to wars we don't exactly need the
practice - what do you want buddy? Our first born?-

That quote wasn't from me; that was GB (God Built). I'm from Canada.
We were just two days or so late into WWII, on a point of principle;
and didn't mind helping out at all. (We've always been ever so
grateful to you for burning Washington for us back in 1814).

1813.

Two days, yeah. But the tank you sent was so poorly trained because of it that it's /still/ puttering around south Belgium, looking for "Narrrrzis, eh?" Or /Pinot Noirzi/, nobody seems sure.
But every time it gets a little too far north, the natives come out with their hands up, shouting, "We're /Dutch/! We're /Dutch/!"
It seems odd that the Ministry of Defense wouldn't recall or decommission them, until you realise that their accumulated retirement pensions would break Ottawa, who are still paying them /at WWII rates/.
God help you if they ever discover the InterNet or e-mail.
