I enjoyed your erudite epistle
That honors the power of thistle,
But you shouldn't boast
You're the reason I poast,
Oregon an eon poasting. And whistle.

Goodonya, Dennis! You are a gymnast with words
and probably whistle like a nightingale!

Vera

A common fallacy among American PO-wets who gibber about nightingales
because Shelley or Keats did.
We don't have the bird.
But I think I'd trot the meadowlark and mockingbird against it any
day it showed up.

We don't have nightingales, either--

Our butcher birds (despite their bloodthirsty name) sing 5 bars of
the sweetest song. If you ever phone me, I'll gladden your ear
with my rendition of their notes.

Now, we've learnt something from each other. Isn't it better
to make friendly exchanges?
