Well, no. There must be plenty of women in the main sub-group of

way they were in the good old days.
Just like the nice guys who live on the edge of the continent and vote
Democrat because their mommies and daddies did and, besides, is would
be nice if things could go back to the good old days of FDR and the
New Deal?
My parents voted Republican (although my mother voted for some Democrats). I
doubt that my husband's parents ever thought about voting for a Democrat for
a nanosecond, not even FDR or Truman. He's definitely to the left of me. (Of
course, he came from the midwest. The Republicans where I came from were the
old-fashioned kind: generally moderate.)
There are still LOTS of old-fashioned, generally moderate,
good-hearted Republicans around. The trouble is that they are
overshadowed by two minority groups: the ultraconservative Tea
Partiers,* and the rich old white men who have lived with
privilege all their lives and feel that their privilege is their
God-given right.

current lot are much noisier. Some of you are probably old
enough to remember the song from the 1964 campaign (Johnson
vs. Goldwater):
"We're the brave young men
Who want to go back to eighteen-ten,
We're Barry's boys!
