The Irish Times had a nice article on the closing lines of books today:

Interesting. We tend to remember opening lines more than we do closing
lines. I am going to have to give some more thought to the endings of
books I have read.
I'd never thought much about last lines either, though I do remember
sometimes feeling let down by the way a book ended. I'll be paying much
more attention in the future.
