Reading Glen Greenwald today in SALON I came across this interesting
statistic, quoted from a speech by one of your Senators (Federal):
"Let's start with a premise that I don't think a lot of Americans are
aware of. We have 5% of the world's population; we have 25% of the
world's known prison population. We have an incarceration rate in the
United States, the world's greatest democracy, that is five times as
high as the average incarceration rate of the rest of the world."
Good heavens!!!
Willow
Believe it or not, but there are at least 1 million criminals behind bars
in the US feral prisons.
And at least 1 million criminals behind bars in all the (50) state prisons
in the USA
A grand total of at least 2 million US criminals behind bars (and
counting)
It's because we have so many laws. Fewer laws, fewer crimes. <G> Take care
