| OK. So where were those advisors with their maps when John McCain was
| scheduled to meet with a journalist from Spain who presumably would
| ask him questions about the relationship the US might have with their
| country if he was elected?
|
| Maybe it would have been a good idea if he sought their wisdom and
| maps before he met with a Spanish corespondent. Let's hope he checks
| the map before he bombs, oh, I don't know....say, Georgia. A lot of
| peanut farmers near Atlanta will be a bit unhappy if he doesn't.
|
| But beyond that. Do YOU know where Spain is, John? Do YOU need to ask
| an advisor where it is when someone mentions it to you, or find
| someone with a map? If not, I think I'll vote for you.

This is so disturbing... and here I thought I was scared before I read
this..
Back in July '08, John McCain was quoted as saying at a town hall meeting
"And I regret some of the recent behavior Russia that has exhibited, and I'll
be glad to talk about that later on including reduction in oil supplies to
Czechoslovakia after they agreed with us on a missile defense system, " His
campaign issued a statement correcting the 'mistake.' The following day, at
another meeting, he made the same mistake, again.
Sigh. It's been 15 years or so, iirc, since that country was peacefully
dissolved by its parliament and split into two nations - the Czech Republic
and Slovakia.
And where's Spain? Um, sorry, John O.. it's nowhere near Greece and is
rather far from Italy, but does share a border with France. (It's on the
Iberian Peninsula, the Southwestern most part of Europe. Portugal and
Andorra are there too and a bit of France.)
Knowing these things do matter. Big time.
George W made many similar blunders in 2000 -- from not understanding basic
geography to not knowing the names of world leaders and their countries.
How could anyone not think it critical that whoever holds this high office
understand where other places in the world are located? And, as commander in
chief, they certainly better have some clue(one would hope for advanced
understanding!) about global geopolitics.
Unbelievable. This is appalling.
And deja vu, all over again..
Annie
