I'm testing the theory that someone on RAM knows something about everything.
My mom was making a pot of tomato sauce yesterday, got distracted by an
overflowing gutter that flooded the pantry, and burned the sauce. And I
mean *burned.*
Does anyone know how to get burned tomatoes off the bottom of the pot?
Any help appreciated!
What kind of pot? Aluminum? Le Crusette(sp)-type? Cast-iron?
Teflon? (yes, stuff does stick to Teflon, and it is a real problem to
remove the "burned stuff")
A good scouring pad, and something like "Softscrub" or Comet Soft
Cleanser...possibly SOS pads...
First very HOT water with dish washing detergent in it and let it soak
overnight...
(somehow, I'll wager that your mom has already tried something like
the above suggestions...)

Stainless steel, I think. It's been soaking for a couple of days now. I
think we'll try some of the more drastic suggestions.
After it's soaked for a while, try *scraping* chunks of burnt
stuff off with a spatula ... or a (new) putty knife.
