Stop laughing, this is serious!!!

Hummm . . . I don't know if I should laugh or cry over the whole situation.

Brett Favre, one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the game retired among copious tears back in March. The Packer organization then went ahead preparing Aaron Rodgers to take over that position this season Early this month Favre decided to come out of retirement and asked to come back to the Packers. (Actually the request was only made official yesterday when he filed his papers with the league.) In the meantime the team has focused on Rodgers and has said equivocally (one wonders if they might have to eat their words over that equivocalness) that Rodgers is their man for the upcoming season.

The fans are split. Favre has a lot of loyalty in this area as well he should. But other fans are looking forward to the future of the team and feel it is time to move on with a younger QB. It's a royal mess. General Manager Ted Thompson has never been all that popular with the fans and now he is embroiled in a he said, I said, he said situation with Favre. If Rodgers is injured early on or doesn't perform as expected, TT could lose his job.

At $12 million a year, it seems rather ludicrous to have Favre play backup to Rodgers (who has yet to even start in a professional football game), but that is one of the options offered. A trade to another team will probably be what happens. But it has to be a team Favre will be willing to play for. The Vikings are out of the question, according to Thompson. He could be the player that puts them over the top. My opinion: if GM Thompson is so confident of QB Aaron Rodgers why not let the Vikings have Favre and let the chips fall where they may. It would make an interesting season opener as we play the Vikings that week.

Here is an article I found quite interesting on the mess.
