I wouldn't have voted for it for an Oscar, if anyone had asked me, and I couldn't list one way in which it revolutionized cinema, so both of those aspects are lost on me.
once again, you really can't compare 9/11 to Titanic apart from the
fact that they involved mass deaths, one was in the centre of New
york, the other in the middle of the freezing Atlantic ocean.
They're comparable because they both involve large numbers of deaths and the circumstances are very well known.
I just
find the films pointless, are we supposed to cry at them? Whats the
reason from dragging it back up so soon? With America's level of
patriotism I can believe that it is literally just for Uncle Sam and
not money, they are patriotic to the point of sheer fantatism and
blindness.
IIRC I did give three reasons for making movies about famous tragedies somewhere upthread and I think only one was about politics/patriotism. I certainly didn't intend that one to be only about fanatic patriotism, either. I guess I'm saying I disagree with your take on the situation - well, except for the bit about the films being pointless. That applies to the Titanic, as far as I'm concerned. It might apply to the 9-11 movies, too - I'll let you know if I ever see one.
