Thanks, Bud. I've been home since last Tuesday, believe it or not, but my computer died the very next day. I'm now struggling to rebuild my system onto an all-singing, all-dancing new setup. This time I hope to do it methodically so I don't end up with yet another mare's nest.

Until I finish this, plus the reorganisation of my workspace, I'd be very grateful if you could carry the Birdy List burden for a few more days.

I might have guessed that I'd have trouble. The best part of the week for me was lunch with John Oliver on the beach at Wollongong, NSW - one of the most beautiful spots on what is probably one of the most scenically beautiful coastal strips in the world. But, getting there, I was held up for half an hour or more by work on the road into Wollongong and forced (by a rockfall on the normal route from Wollongong to Canberra) into a lengthy detour. The computer crash seemed to cap it all off.

But I'm slowly getting sorted.
