Re: Security Guard Tells All in New Book

Indeed. Most of those I've met are the wannabes, or those who left police work after a year or two. But the title, "Observe & Report" does conjure images of point and holler.

I'm aware that some of the very top security firms do excellent work, but most people never meet those folks.

The IT field is entirely new since my days of toting badge-and-gun, but I was amused to discover that it, too, relies on hours of tedious work. Just as we used to have to pore over pages and pages of tire tread, investigating IT crime involves poring over pages and pages of server logs. Not something that is done without sufficient incentive - the violation must be fairly severe to dedicate that amount of man-hours (or woman-hours.)

So much for glamor.
