While I was helping at a birthday party for four year olds this morning
(exhausting!) one of the moms talked to me about her son. He's in fourth
grade but his reading tests at post-high school. His teacher recommended
that he read some adult books. They're looking for things with appropriate
content. The children's librarian recommended the Maggody series by Joan
Hess. The boy's mom started reading one of the books to check it out for
her son and found some stuff that wasn't right for a fourth grader. She's
also thinking of trying Tony Hillerman.
Can anyone suggest adult mysteries that would be OK for a boy that age?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I was one of those kids. It really doesn't matter what the material
is really. the kid is a sponge and will gobble all information he can
get his hands out. I used to read the bible. The king James version
with all the doth and thy. I recommend you check out amazon.com There
is quite a selection to choose from that is quite appropriate.
