I agree and I wasn't clear at all. I know that never going to the doctor isn't wise advice. I do think there's something to be said for not taking a pill for every little thing, which many people seem to like to do. It's my understanding (and experience) that by only using medicine when it's really necessary, you help your body use the meds better.

There may even be a connection. Cancer is now generally viewed as a malfunction of the immune system. Most cancers. We all have cancer cells in our bodies. Our immune system attacks them, breaks them down, and flushes them away. A cancer cell is just a normal cell that has gone rogue. Taking a lot of medications can negatively impact the immune system (and the liver) which may lead to cancer cells growing without being removed.

Overactive immune systems bring a whole 'nother set of problems - sometimes it results in spontaneous abortion as the fetus is seen as a "foreign" or rogue cell. Lupus, multiple sclerosis, and a host of other major and minor illnesses are caused by an overactive immune system.

So much of new medical knowledge is due to AIDS research. It really has been a dark cloud with a silver lining.
