I never hated oatmeal cookies. Granted, if they had raisins in them, I'd
spend a great deal of time picking the cookie apart & throwing away the
raisins, but I always liked the cookies themselves.
The raisins were my problem with them. I hated, and still hate, raisins.
As do a couple of my siblings. So I guess the oatmeal cookies might have
lasted longer except that they were my mother's favorite. And my dad will
eat anything sweet. I was very glad when people started putting chocolate
chips in oatmeal cookies. Mmm.

That is carefully calculated on the part of parents. Who wants to make
a huge batch of cookies, only to find they're all gone when you reach
for one? The trick is to find out which kind the kids don't like, and
therefore, don't consume immediately. This can be very difficult with
some kids. Congratulations to your parents.
This may be a stupid question, but don't mothers limit their kids'
cookie intake? Mine did.
