I think whatsisname, the engineering school shooter, wasn't technically
pur laine white male, but he was pretty close, depending on how you
define 'white'. He was unsuccessful, certainly.

I caught a brief mention of some spokesman in the first confusion
saying something really, really stupid to the effect that such
incidents were unheard of in Montreal!!!

Two confirmed dead, one a shooter, varied reports on whether there were
other shooters.

More obscenities than I've heard on CBC in a long time in the
interviews with survivors, which I think it entirely understandable.

Tragic as it all was it could have been a lot worse - I have to hand it
to the Montreal cops - they were really on the ball with that one and
showed a lot of guts by going in alone without waiting for the swat
team back-up.

It turns out the shooter was an exception, thanks to my foolish
use of the term white rather than caucasian, which has so much more wiggle
room. His ethnic origins don't seem to have played a role in Wednesday's
events though. It just shows how effective assimilation is: the shooter
could have been any murderous Canadian loner loonie.

It's going to suck to be a goth for the next little while,
although I did notice at least one editorial that pointed out that
going out on a rampage is strongly atypical behavior even for people
with musical and fashion tastes like the killer.
