I know that Millennium allows for specific
versions of the OPAC - we have one that is just the Business Library,
showing only the books at that one location, for instance. Maybe that
would be a possibility for you.
I don't think Sirsi does that, but then again we are a system,
not a consortia, so the setup would be quite different.
Our staff are still having hissy fits over the inability to do
library specific loans, so the new stuff stays in house for the
regular patrons rather than being shipped all over the city.
We keep telling them that the other libraries' materials are
coming to them, but they don't believe us.
Barbara
changed the loan period and now all material circulates for 21 days,
and all material can be reserved. There was and still is some
unhappiness from staff because the book is not at *their* branch.
They request more copies and we explain that the new copies won't stay
at their branch either. With the old system, the people who could get
to the library every day had a much better chance of getting a new
book. The people who worked, who could only come in once a week or
so, had practically no chance of getting a best-seller. I think the
new system is more equitable.
