But, it was confirmed. Mouth-feeding was tried: it's in her
medical records which because of all the controversy, are public
record.

Speaking as the person who has won the *?%#2!!! lottery
"Who shall I give power-of-attorney to and ensure that my "living
will/advanced directive" wishes are carried out" for several people
(including but not limited to family members), I have a different view.
I think the most trustworthy person is the person whom one trusts not
to be overwhelmed by her own feelings or the input of others and that
person can be a family member.

As for spouses, why on god's green earth would one spend a
single hour with a spouse you couldn't trust to ensure that your own
wishes about your own life and death would be carried out? People in
that position don't need advance directives: they need divorce lawyers.
