Yes, I've got it and probably will spend all available spare time in the
next couple of days reading it! I also have a stash of books for my carryon
and luggage, but I've tried to choose titles which for one reason or another
I won't mind leaving behind if I finish the book. Many guidebooks say that
European hotels are happy to have abandoned English language paperbacks.
"luggage" books include as of now - list may be shorter due to space
constraints:
STONES FOR IBARRA Harriett Doerr
REMAINS OF THE DAY Kazuo Ishiguro
IN THE BLEAK MID-WINTER by Julia Spencer-Fleming
COLD MOUNTAIN by Ian Frazier
THE STRAW MEN by Michael Malone
THIRD PERSON SINGULAR by K J Erickson
Doerr and Erickson most likely not to make the cut if space is a problem
National Geographic Traveler arrived to today with a cover article on
exploring Venice. Excellent timing, I'd say!
www.weather.com reports temps in the 60's with intermittent showers for the
next ten days. We each have an umbrella, so we should be set.
We were there in 1990 for one day when our cruise ship stopped there.
That's kind of like one bite of a chocolate chip cookie, or perhaps a
teaspoon of champagne, so we're ready for a week's stay. Our preferred
style of travel is to spend a longer space of time in one place, and forego
the shifting around you get when you move from place to place.
Play nice while I'm gone!
Here we come, ready or not!
