And deservedly so... it's a fine book, despite not being a Thursday Next
(though there is what *could* be a fleeting appearance by her).
It's set in a similar world to the previous books, but the focus has moved
from Swindon to Reading (and Basingstoke, which is nothing to be ashamed
of). Awful puns abound (especially in detective's names - Moose, Rhombus,
Miss Maple, M. Porridge, Dogleash all walk on and off), and every chapter
has a news clipping or book extract, related either to the story of a
nursery rhyme (the trial of Rumlestiltskin was delayed for several days
because he demanded that the judge guess his name; the locked room mystery
was found murdered... in a locked room).
Grand stuff, but possibly not the right book to take to read in a dentist's
waiting room (luckily there was only one other person, and it wasn't like I
was sitting between her and the door...)
