I don't remember the name of the worst (depressing) book I ever read. It
dates quite a few years back. It involved a babysitter taking care of some
kids while the parents went off on vacation . . . or some such.
Well, the kids and some of the neighbor kids kidnapped the sitter, tied her
up in the bedroom and kept her that way for quite some time. When it got
time for the parents to come home, they took her way out in a back yard,
heated up a charcoal grill and then heated pokers in the grill and then took
time sticking them into her body. They started in her feet and were
surprised to find out that red hot pokers slid so easily into the body.
The worst part of the book--and the part that really depressed me (well,
other than the killing) was that they all got away with it. The crime was
blamed on a drifter.
