Thanks, Peter; that confirmed my basic suspicion; you also corrected a
bit of misinformation that I'd been told.

It's a real privilege to be able to get the inside scoop from people who
know film tech in detail.

While this group is a lot more sparsely populated than it was a decade
ago, it's always been an excellent place to hammer out stuff that's
bugged you for years.

Here's my suggestion about technical stuff that doesn't seem logical. If
it's not logical there's a 99.9% chance it's bull***.

I know that you can read postings on this group going back for at least
ten years or more. Where and how it's done I can't tell you but there
are several guys here that are good at making us eat our words. :-)
