Larry,
What is the story with Block 29? I am looking at buying some used
411's, but they are on block 29. The mysterious designation that the
interference can be "unpredictable" makes it sound like an ominous
block and generally a bad idea (although the same can be said for all
blocks). What specifically does this mean? I'm trying to make a
good decision for use in the film and TV world around the U.S.

Any notes would be helpful.

Thanks,

Hi (name deleted),
Here is our take on the subject:http://www.lectrosonics.com/PressReleases/whitespace/whitespace.htm

You might also find some good info on RAMPS. You could certainly pose
the question and see what others are experiencing.

Other than that, all I can say is this digital change over has never
happened before in the history of the world and predicting how any
wireless is going to work, even illegally, above 698 MHz in the U.S.
is just a guess. Basically , you are probably getting a good price on
the block 29's and will have to accept some uncertainty to get that
price. I would at least recommend that you have other blocks as back
up so that you have units to go to if you have bad interference from
one of the new services at some point in time on your block 29's. Here
is a price list for conversion of the block 29's to another block.
That is also a future option.

Note that the units have to be made within the last 5 years. Hope all
this helps. I am going to post your question on RAMPS to see what
other opinions are.
