1) There are all kinds of people reading and replying to messages on Usenet.
There are people with great technical knowledge and there are dilettantes
And they trade places in various sub-categories, as well. And there are
those who are logical and even-tempered as well as those who are impetuous
and subjective. Alas, the technically knowledgeable aren't always the
even-tempered and logical ones. As in Real Life, one must make certain
allowances.
2) Some people come to these newsgroups after determining the proper NG for
their question, and after doing their homework and crafting a proper
question, including all the pertinent details. And others pop into
inappropriate NGs with questions that could have been answered by spending a
few quality milliseconds with Google or by reading the instructions. These
people frequently stumble in from "Google Groups". Note that this is NOT a
"Google Group". It is a Usenet newsgroup which Google is exploiting.
The last time i read or heard these type of comments was in college
in the late 70s and early 80s,
With all this gained knowlege can none of you agree to dissagree and
get on with the answer?
Do you really think that Usenet taps into a different category of beings?
They/we are pretty much the same lot as one would find face-to-face in Real
Life. Except, of course, it would be nearly impossible to get this kind of
audience in Real Life.
That said can I ask my Question now....
Experienced Usenet users try not to alienate the people they are seeking
help from. Especially BEFORE they even ask their question.
if a desk mixer has an input of 18v-0-18v AC supplied from an
external transformer UK (230V AC 50Hz) and i want to supply it with DC
and make a Dual Rail PSU of +24V DC / 0V / -24V DC running Via the
Full Wave Bridge Rectifier would this not only work as well as the
transformer on AC but Better as it now has no Ripple noise and making
the Specs better than running on the mains,my point being to use a
small Desk mixer as a field mixer without spending a small fortune on
an SD442 or equivelent
1) This is not particularly a r.a.m.p.s question. It is an electronics and
specifically circuit design question and is rather off-topic here. There are
several more appropriate newsgroups than this one. But since you are already
here...
2) Your question would work if you were asking about a specific (identified)
small desk mixer. But as a generic question, one can discuss general points
like noise reduction, but NOT specific points like "will it work?" That is
because one must know the design of the specific piece of equipment before a
determination can be made of operability. Note that many pieces of audio
kit that require AC input do so because they perform additional voltage
multiplication internally, frequently to generate the 48VDC phantom power or
to generate both the + and - rails.
Note further that equipment that is designed to rectify and filter
mains-frequencies (50/60Hz) may not do as well with filtering noise/ripple
from high-frequency sources (like switchmode power supplies). Again, one
would need insight into the internal details of the circuit design.
One assumes you are aware that a purpose-built device like an SD 442 has a
great many more differences from your average small desk mixer than just
powering options.
