Using Compressor on Sound Device 722

Hi Guys
I'm working on my roommate's big film project for his directing the
narrative class.
He's shooting with out a script, I know, it's pretty stupid.
Really the lack of professionalism is a little outrageous.
but i don't mind getting experience on something stupidly challenging
without any penalties of messing up.
I just might not say yes to working on whatever he has next.
So because there's no script all the actors are doing imprav.
It's pretty tough to boom and mix that way especially because the
actors are gonna be shouting randomly.
I am using a sound device 722 and Wendt x4 field mixer, Is there a way
I can use the compressor on the equipment to keep any sudden shouts
from distorting without pumping or effecting the dialogue too much.
also if it's any help to know this too Ill be using a sanken cs-1 for
the boom and two lav's one AT Wireless and one Letrosonic Wireless.
so let me know what you think
Thanks Alot
Kurt
