Don't do the whole TC-on-an-audio-channel if you can avoid it at all.
Trying to explain it to a producer (even if the editor can implement
it) is simply not worth it. It is a last-resort, not standard work-
flow.
I think you would be better off with a Tascam HD-P2, or the Fostex
FR-2 if you can afford it, than the plan you suggest here.
Thanks for the advice. The R44 was attractive for its price point, its
physical size, and its mechanical simplicity. I know that I would have
applications for the 4-track capability away from the video world, and
I like the flash memory part, but maybe I am barking up the wrong tree
here. I'll look closer at the R4 Pro.
