more on topic - lesser I say the better since I am not an ENG guy, but
I would certainly like to hear the two feeds as return separately,
especially because I feel that the two feeds will be different. One
may be from a boom mic and the second from a lav, or one from a
conference hall PA system/audience boom/etc., and the second from a
podium mic. Many other scenarios exist, I dont know them since i dont
do ENG, but in documentary work, this is crucial as much as in ENG.

In a studio, if i cannot hear a return from recorder (in the analog
era) I would be crippled. In the case of this kind of work (ENG/
Documentary) I think that the 'confidence monitoring' of the old tape
era comes into play because one is using wireless feeds and also (if
not wireless feeds) one is feeding to all these new cameras.

One of my clients does alot of docs in languages other than English.
He likes to have simultaneous translation on the fly. I send English
to one track of the camera and the other language to the remaining
track. If you were spot checking camera audio on the return, it
would be tower of babel time if it were only in mono. It would also
be more difficult to confirm that you were sending two discrete tracks
to the camera. Billy and Oleg are right about the Deva16. You can
have all sorts of return options with that platform, but then why
build the Fusion? (a self-professed, purpose built device)

Also, Billy made the point about doing your homework, but this is
what Zax says about the Fusion:

"Fusion connects directly to the 10-pin Hirose connector located on
most cameras, providing a two channel camera feed with audio return".

This is from the features section of the website. Mono is not
mentioned anywhere. On the specifications page, the return is not
mentioned at all. This is the difficulty that Charles alluded to when
trying to distill information from the written page. The mono return
is also something one might not pick up in person either.

Don't know of ANY camera that has a 10 pin Hirose connector...
Does anyone???
