Hi all,
I'm pretty new to the game. Have a question.
I might be working one of those shows similar to 'fear' on MTV -
basically 4 people walking around in the dark in a supposedly
'haunted' prison, etc. Presumably all lav'd up. I doubt i'll be
walking around in the dark with a boom.
I'm curious about getting good quality sound. If there is no script,
what is the proper protocol for where the pots should be? If I only
open each pot when the person is speaking I'm definitely going to miss
something. If I leave them all open all the time, I'm afraid that I
won't get the cleanest sound I can get - which may not be an issue
given the nature of the show. I am also concerned that if two people
are in proximity of each other and are on the same channel they could
be picked up on the other person's mic and get thrown out of phase.
Any tips?
Thanks everyone,
Mike
we do this all the time put 2 on left channel of camera and 2 on right
channel leave them all open you will be fine
Another point of view is to have either your boom or a mic on the
camera on one channel (bail out) and you
mix the 4 to one channel on the fly.
