thanks for the feedback,
i'll try to repeat your test and see if i hear something different this time :)
it's rather a concern of mine as it affects probably 90% of my work,
thanks,

Just trying to remember as it was about two years ago I did the test - I think with the B20 there was low end colouration/cut clearly noticeable on voice. I was surprised by this as I imagined the basket would be more transparent but was not..
I only have one CCM41 so I can't do a direct switch from one to the other using pfl. at present but at the time when I had access to two CCM41's I did do, as I said, a direct comparison and without windshield they sounded absolutely identical and the B5D had very little effect whereas the B20 colouration was clearly noticeable. I did change inputs around to make sure it wasn't something caused by difference in mic preamp etc. Anyway the colouration was enough for me to immediately buy a B5D. I still have the B20 which I never use!

I own and use both,
and tend to use the B20 more,
i notice a marked improvement in wind protection on quicker boom moves,
but do not notice a marked coloration of the sound compared to the B5D,
i find them acoustically very similar,
that being said, the "naked" MK41 is indeed an improvement when movement is not an issue,
how would you describe the coloration that you noticed?
on a practical aside, i find the B20 significantly more robust and durable, with it's "exoskeleton" design
