Yeah, I feel the pain but I have noticed a lot of talk on this group lately
about how "the other guy" fucks us up. Seems to be an echo of the same
thing I hear all over about politicians, bad drivers, my wife's boss. I
have certainly noticed a falling away of the "team sport" mentality, and I
have noticed it strongly in the movie business. "My work is more important
than your work" Move or bleed, push and shove. I have certinly done my
share to make another department miserable. "Let's put the mic in his hair.
No one will ever see it" as the stylist sits in terror through the whole set
up, knowing that if a mic IS seen, it will be her fault. "If we only take
this big piece of set away, we can get a boom in on it." as the
constructuion and grip crews struggle to dismantle the set while everyone
else sits aroung, taps their feet and whistles the theme from Jepardy.
It is, in fact, one reason that I can't hardley (caint herdly) wait to get
back on my series. It seems one of the few places that 100 people get
together every day to create a good product. "I got your back, dude." It's
a wonderful experience.

and how many times right before you're about to roll a take one of
them comes running in to do something no one else can see.... I've
watched directors sit them in their place and tell them that when a
take is about to go, they are forbidden to run onto the set period
without asking
