Hello to all 744T/XL DVD users.
I will be starting a 3 day commercial this week and I will rolling on
my 744T.
It is going to be very quick run and gun ENG style shooting on 35mm.
FILM not Video!!!
Production has requested DVD's at the end of each day.
Obviously I will not be able to burn as we shoot, so I will have to
dump my audio files from the 744T to DVD during wrap.
And depending on the amount of audio recorded this could take a long
time.
Here is my question:
Is it faster to plug in the XL DVD straight into the 744T and burn DVD
RAM disks (5x speed)
or
faster to plug the 744T into my laptop, dump the files onto my HD, and
then burn to a faster DVD-R?
Obviously if I have time I will do periodic "dumps" from the 744T onto
a DVD, but it became apparent during the tech scout (yes I was
invited!) that we will be running all over the city and shooting non
stop.
So. Burn from 744T or dump to computer and burn from there?
Thanks for all your responses.
Dave
Hi Dave,
I'd suggest you get the number of the transfer house and ask if they
can handle a CF card for the dailies?
If they can, then record to both the CF and HDD on the 744t. Send the
CF card off with a note saying "to be returned with the rushes". And
dump all the files to DVD at the end of the shoot as well. You may
want to have a spare CF on hand in case they forget to return it.
Saves you hanging about at the end of each day. Just be sure to get
those slates right!
Cheers,
Chris
