Hello Chris,
I'm not sure which vintage Remote Audio coiled cable you have, but
within the last few months we have gone to a stronger cable, and
within the last few weeks we have gone to a better right angle
connector (better strain relief, easier to index). The new cable has a
shiny finish, more for the connector to grab, and larger gauge
conductors. If yours is this new type, I would like to see how it
failed, and I will replace or repair it for you at no charge.
