the bnc is for world clock

It's also for video ref.

Jakob, what does 'video reference' mean on an audio recorder?

It means you can align the analog to digital convertor and the frames
of the internal TC generator with the clock of the video camera/system
in use. The P2 can take TriLevel sync as well as NTSC etc video sync
as well. In practice I've never really used this--it is easier to
take a TC feed from the camera or deck (a line for which you could put
in your snake) and set the P2 to clock itself to that--one feed
instead of two.

Philip, Wowizer! Someone else with the same unit. Please give me your
good and bad about the unit. I ran into one poor design flaw...the
way the unit automaticly draws it's power from the highest power
source. Since I have fresh batteries, I have to remember to "remove"
one battery if I want to use the AC plug in, otherwise, it sucks
battery power away. Just wish that was menu selectable. EVerything
else seems cool. Just haven't had much chance to put it thru any
paces. So please, fill me in!!!
