Here is one of those breakaway cables in its most common form:

The "breakaway" feature of this kind of cable means that you can
quickly disconnect yourself from the camera by way of the special
quick-release multi-pin connector located about a foot from the camera
end of the cable - very handy when its time for you and the camera op
to run to the next shot...without unknowingly taking any innocent
bystanders with you. Usually these cables are sold in 15' or 25'
lengths. Its usually very smart to get the 15' cable, and then also
purchase a companion 25' extension cable that is especially made to
insert between the male and female breakaway connectors of the shorter
cable. That way you're set for just about anything. I usually use
two 25' extensions hooked together when the camera is on a jib - makes
for an easier day. Until you are ready to spring for a proper
breakaway cable, you can actually just cable-tie 3 mic cables of
suitable length together, putting the necessary stereo mini-plug
adapters on one of the 3 so you can connect one end to the camera's
headset jack, and the other to the return monitor input on your
mixer. If your mixer doesn't have anything like that, it would still
be a good idea to plug your headset directly into the monitor return
cable, so you can know that the camera is indeed getting (both
channels of) your audio .
