Unless the Sound devices CL-1 as some very special issues with thePascal,
type of Keyboard or PS2 device it sees, i don't believe it would be a
problem with a simple USB to PS2 adapter. I fully understand the
misunderstanding of the PS2 trademark vs connector name but Again, if
Sound devices is asking for simple ASCII command from a keyboard in
order to function, the actual connector is simply an electrical set of
contact that need to be routed in the right place. I have not read
the CL-1 instructions but i would be suprised if it did not work, then
again i have been wrong in the past. Just simply think that trying
something at 25$ before i get one for 400$ ( L3 wrist keyboard ) is
not that much of a risk.
Love this forum, thanks to all that contribute.
Pascal
USB is a complex hierarchical protocol. A USB spec device cannot
communicate with a PS/2 (note slash) interface by any means. It appears
there is such a thing as a USB adapter because some keyboards and mice are
designed to autosense hookup to a PS/2 port through the adapter, which is
just a passive mechanical adapter. In other words, these earlier devices
incorporated both a USB and a PS/2 interface, and the intelligence to
autoselect between the two.
Try to hook a recent mouse or usb keyboard to a PS/2 port through a
connector adapter you may have from an earlier product. It will not
function.
This would probably work: http://directron.com/kl51.html . It is a dual
mode product, with the intelligence in the keyboard microprocessor to sense
the PS/2 connection.
