dear matt
finally i could get answers:
Was the picture slowed down in the convert from 50p to PAL25? If not,
there shouldn't be any need to slow down the audio either.
yes picture was slowed down, using cinema tools (not quick time pro,
as i first mentioned). it's a batch process
producing files that don't have 50fps any more but 25fps, making them
twice as long, no pictures are skipped, rendering is not necessary.
they do this process to have better resoultion in slowed down
pictures. pictures are then loaded into fcp, in a 25fps project,
having half speed pictures, that's why sound has to be slowed down as
well to 50%. sync is o.k at the beginning of the files, then drifts
away.
is there a possibility to stay in sync with the time code? 50fps on
744T is not possible, so the only option would be a post workaround.

Thomas,
You have me stumped on this one. It sounds like this was shot like an off-speed film-style effects shot. Usually shots like this are non-sync or MOS. Why were they expecting that the sound would be in sync with picture that is moving at half-speed? Unless I am completely mis-understanding something here.
As Courtney said, you would need to stamp the files as 24k to get them to play at 50% speed. I am not sure what this would do to the timecode stamp, but I would guess that you would have to divide it in half as well since the TC stamp is simply a count of audio samples since midnight.
I would think the easiest post "work-around" would be to re-digitize the video that you want to have sync audio at regular speed and then use the half-speed stuff only for the effects shots.
