pointed out, the camera can do "true" 24 FPS or 23.976 fps. The next
question is how they will be editing--will they do down converts to
standard def video and cut that. or will they stay in the 24 fps world
and work with that. Will the editors be using your double system sound
in their 24/23.976 edit, or will it only be used by audio post people
who will want to work in standard def? So:

--"true" 24 fps or 23.976?
--if your audio has to be taken into a 24p picture edit workflow? then
you should record
whatever the camera framerate will be (23.976 or 24 @ 48k )
--if your audio won't be used until audio post, then 30 fps TC (if the
camera is @ true 24 P)
@ 48.048 or 29.97 fps if the camera is at 23.976 @ 48k.

You have many questions to ask of production and post before you will
know for sure what you should be doing.

Sony is the only camera that really shoots at 24 not 23.97 but it can
shoot at 23.97. If you are shooting for NTSC TV then record your audio
at 29.97

Ok, everything I know, everything I've read, and every bone in my body
says that sony's 24p mode is really 23.976.

This new show is trying to reinvent the wheel. Two f900 cameras. I've
been asked by post to run at 30 because they are running at "24p". I
keep firmly saying that "24p" mode is actually 23.976. They keep
insisting it's really 24.000.

The DP says 23.976 is a problem for HMI lights and he wants to run 24.

Please let me know, I just need backup.

PS. ordered a test for tomorrow.

PPS. Post is also suggesting to run uncabled seperate systems, audio
and picture. I love it and I cringe at the cost they are incuring
