Hi All
I will be doing my first music video soon and need advise.
From what I've learned so far I think I know what I have to do. The
camera will be 35mm, at 24 fps and editing on Avid DV. So I need to speed
up the song by 0.1% and have that sped up version playing back on the set
with time code at 30 fps (right?) Thus, when they pull down the picture
the lips will be going the correct speed. If all of the above is correct,
my question is, how do I speed up the song?
I have a 744 which is what I will use to playback on set (I don't have a
laptop). Is there a way to speed up the song in the 744? Or if not, is
there some (free) program I can download to do the job?
Thanks in advance

Dennis,
If they provided you with a track with music on one track and 29.97 ND time
code on the second track you can use Audacity to change the speed by +0.1%
then export the wave file and put it back into the 744. However it will not
be a broadcast wave file so you will have to feed the output of the LTC
track from the Audio Channel 2 to feed the slate. It should be then at
30.00fps on playback.
Audacity is free but it does not support Broadcast wav files so the output
file will lose the TC stamp so the 744t will not indicate the time code.
(only the slate hooked up to the output of the audio LTC track)
It sure is a lot easier to use a laptop for playback though.
