I don't know if it is just in the monitor section or not. Good point.
I'll do a test and check it out.
When I switch the monitoring to the Firewire source, the levels drop
about 10dB. At least, the meters do. I am having a hard time getting
a setup with unity gain. I send tone on a channel, set up the main
levels to 0 on the Mackie, then set the trim of the firewire board so
that the stereo mix channels in Metacorder show up at -20. But, when I
switch to the firewire return, the levels and the meters drop. I
admittedly have only had this mixer a few days, so I may be wasting
your time with a question that is easily answered in the manual.
It also seems like the iso track levels are very hard to set correctly.
The meters barely move if I set them to allow for 20 dB of headroom,
but when I raise them at all, it gets dicey.
It is the old "optimize the gain structure" issue. Since you have
field experience with this setup, what have you found to be practical
in the field? I was using the Metacorder that came on the disc, and
only just discovered that there was a 1.2 Pre-Release. I'm told some
of the metering issues may have been solved in 1.2. I'm a little
nervous using a "Pre-Release" though. Is this okay?
Thanks in advance for your help.
