Jeff, while I too don't exactly understand that the headphone volume can't
be cut I think you are a little over board, to say the least.

To be able to cut the volume you can also:

turn down the channels !
take them darn headphones off !


You could also read the manual regarding 'features or bugs' and if not happy
with the equipment, change it.
You're the one who is responsible for your ears. If you can't stand
recording high volume noise for months - and I very well understand that -
then you might decide that it's the wrong job.

Run and gun reality shows tend to not give any %#$@^ about your ears or your
back. Protect yourself accordingly!

PS: I too, unfortunately, tend to up the volume towards the end of day and
didn't come up yet with a solution how to deal with that problem. The next
mixing-board generation should offer some solutions here.

protect us. I would hope our equipment would at least give us the
opportunity to shut them out if we need to. Wearing headphones with the
volume off often gives us a extra level of protection from loud sounds,
having a loud sound amplified in our ear (even if it its is -20db from
max)and not being able to shut it off,I dare to say cant be healthy.
I totaly respect that you made a decision to keep the heaphone volume
max lower then other mixers(although this is definitely one reason I do
not own a psc).

I guess to sum it up. You are obviously concerned with your products,
and the operators who use it. I am a very confident that I am a case
study for you as an operator that was effected by your product, I
would recommend this feature to be removed and allow users to have full
volume control.

I have never posted to Ramps I have always just been a lurker, when I
saw this thread begin, I had to jump in. like I said my ears ring now,
and every day that they ring I think of my experience the day that it
began with the mixer I used, and the functionality of that mixer. I now
somewhat fear what my future holds as a mixer, I wonder what this ring
will do to my ability to mix, but I have a feeling there are alot of
mixers with a ring in there ear and are successful. If I sound
dramatic, I am just being honest.....
I also realize I could have just called you and not posted this, but I
wanted it to be on the record.
