Why is level setting so difficult? We're not talking about rocket
science or brain surgery.

Adjust the level using just the trim knob & the PFL switch to where you
want the level to be. Then open the channel fader to bring the level up
to the same reading as the trim level.

If 442 "0" is -20dbfs on your recording unit then average levels on the
442 @ +10 is only -10 dbfs on the recorder, plenty of head room for
peaks.

Lke a receipe, season to taste. Voila, all is good, go record something,
make money, buy more toys and most of all, have fun.
