With the DVX100a and b, there is another commonly used trick. Set your
audio input to stereo from a single input, then set one level on the
camera at "normal" level (which, on the DVX is seeing one or two red
bars), then set the other input 15-25% less. This way you're covered
in situations where there is distortion on one track. I haven't worked
with the HVX yet, but I've been told that the audio is very similar, so
presumably, the same trick will apply.
