If they are using the Fisher "square-track", made from square tubing,
and using the "landing gear" wheels that swing down from between the
two larger rubber tires. then you are usually out of luck, especially
on a curve. Having this equipment on a sync sound job shows that your
grip dept. is very inexperienced--it is part of their job to make the
dolly as quiet as possible. Most experienced grips I know now insist
on the production using skate wheels or the dolly directly on Masonite
etc on the floor, for this very reason. In the past we have thrown
every chemical we could come up with from the grip truck and the art
dept on those Fisher wheels, mostly to no avail if there is a curve in
the track. Otherwise, Pledge helps a lot, although you have to be
carefull of how it may react with the floor.
