Oleg doesn't speak this way on the Sound Devices support forum, he doesn't
speak this way on the Lectrosonics mailing list. I'm betting he doesn't
speak this way to his wife, children or other family members and I'm sure
gonna bet he doesn't speak this way on set with his superiors or to law
enforcement or the Israeli Army. So why can't we just be treated to normal
mainstream unwritten societal rules of decency in a production sound
newsgroup? Is it so much to ask that he take the nastiness out of his
remarks? Oleg says the Usenet is a "no man's land" and he can do as he
wishes. There are numerous newsgroups where he can post which welcome
racism, bigotry, and out right verbal attacks and death/disease wishes. We
can easily avoid those newsgroups but we can't, even with kill files,
completely avoid him here. It's one thing to say just don't look at the
accident if you don't want to see blood and carnage, but it's an entirely
more difficult proposition to drive by it on the freeway and not slow down
for a glance. There's nothing funny about it to myself and apparently to
some others when it appears on this newsgroup again and again ongoing now
for a couple of years. If his English is so bad and we are losing the humor
or something in the translation then I think he should post his satire in
his native tongue for all his fellow Israelis to enjoy.
